Sound proofing

Townhome construction techniques are completely different today than those of only a few years ago. Our homes are designed for a STC (Sound Transmission Class) between 60-64. Anything above 60+ is considered Excellent. Higher STC ratings are better. STC ratings should not be confused with decibels (dB) as are these are different measurements. However, the STC rating does roughly estimate the sound dampening characteristics of the wall in dBs.
